Invitation to Montague Genealogists
All Genealogists and family historians are invited to archive their sourced Montague-releated histories and genealogies here in the House of Montague for research, consolidation, sharing, and eventual publication. As the database grows, HOM will become the world's archive for authoritatively and professionally sourced data on Montague families immigrating to America before 1900.
HOM and this website are works in progress. At this date, only the lineage of the English immigrant Peter Montague has been documented, sourced, and cited through 1930.

| Welcome! |
| House of Montague (HOM) was built, 8 Dec 2000, to establish an electronic presence and clearinghouse for the Montague surname in America. HOM is a long-term excavation into the history and genealogy of Montague immigrants to America before 1900. Some of the family lines have inevitably become extinct, while other lines are surviving and flourishing to present day. Our current projects are listed below: |
| *** PETER MONTAGUE PROJECT *** |
| Book: History and Genealogy of Peter Montague of Jamestown, Virginia, 1603-2003, Quadricentennial Edition. This first American Montague immigrated from England to Jamestown, Virginia, Nov 1621, at the age of 18 years. This ambitious book update began in 1999 in anticipation of publishing a quadricentennial edition celebration of Peter's birth in 1603. This two-volume book compiles all modern research of the last 100 years and is planned for Dec 2004 publication. While nearly complete through 1930, we now need living descendants to contact us with their family data for inclusion. For excerpt of Peter's history and genealogy, click English Montagues and select the desired links.
|
NOTE: A Quadricentennial Edition Minibook of the Peter Project called History and Genealogy of Peter Montague of Jamestowne Colony, Virignia (The First Three Generations) has been published. To view selected pages from this 104 page book Click Here |
|
| ***RICHARD MONTAGUE PROJECT *** |
| Book: History and genealogy of Richard Montague of New England, 1614-2014, Quadricentennial Edition. The younger brother of Peter, Richard immigrated to New England (Hadley, MA) about 1634. The Richard Montague project has a projected start date of 2005, will comprise four volumes, and take five years to complete. Click English Montagues for more information.
 |
| *** HOM WEBSITE PROJECT *** |
| HOM Website: You are looking at it. This project endeavors to identify and authenticate Montague immigrants to America before 1900. It will not attempt to provide detailed multi-generations of these immigrants (as in the two book projects). The goal is to provide a starting point for others to research and report. This website, over time, will catalog all early Montagues who built America by their citizenship, character, and hardwork. We solicite your inputs for this project. [Contact Us] |
|
| GUEST NOTE: This site is designed to maximize interaction between you and us. Click About HOM to learn more about us. Montague activities of interest, including news and comments about all things Montague, will be posted under Montague News. Bookmark us and revisit periodically to give and get documented facts and sources about the Montague family in America. |

| Excuse our Newness . . . |
 |
| The HOM website is new and the design reflects the direction of future research objectives. Some immigrant buttons above are short of content (for now), but that will change as Montague researchers begin interacting. For now, only the lineage of English immigrant Peter Montague of Jamestowne Virginia is nearing completion. Many are familiar with HOM through emails, GenForum, and "Searching Montague" ads in National Genealogical Newsletter, Virginia Genealogical Society, and Family History Magazine. As new information is added, it will be "flagged" here so visitors can check for the latest updates. |

| U ATTENTION! . . . Peter Montague Descendants |
| We need to hear from any extant (living) descendants of Peter Montague of Jamestown, VA, to complete our accounting of his descendants through present day. If you can contribute from 1900 to current, we would be grateful (and so will your descendants). The book will be published with or without this information. Cutoff date for new information is 31 Jan 2004. If you are seeking information on descendants prior to 1930, we might be able to help. |
